February is all about celebrating self-love in its many forms, but it’s also a time for deep thinking and feeling a range of emotions. Let’s talk about what this month means for preteens as you navigate friendships, crushes, and finding yourselves.

Middle school can feel overwhelming, especially when it comes to friendships.

Sometimes things get tricky, and emotions can run high. It’s totally normal to feel confused or upset. Remember, it’s okay to ask for help when you need it. Whether it’s talking to your friends, family, or a trusted adult, opening up can make a big difference. Building strong, healthy relationships now can help you develop better self-esteem and self-love for the future.

Crushes and new feelings might be on your mind, too.

It’s exciting to have a crush, but it can also be confusing. Love should make you feel good about yourself, so if something doesn’t feel right, it’s okay to step back. Be true to yourself, respect your feelings, and remember that it’s okay to talk to someone if you’re unsure about what you’re experiencing. Developing self-love and self-esteem means understanding your worth and knowing that your feelings are important.

School and social media can sometimes make you doubt yourself.

You might compare yourself to others or feel like you’re not good enough. But here’s the truth: You are unique and special just as you are. Focus on your strengths, celebrate your accomplishments, and be kind to yourself. Surround yourself with positive people who make you feel good about yourself. Building self-esteem is about appreciating who you are and loving yourself despite any challenges.

No matter where you are in life, remember that self-love and self-discovery are ongoing adventures.

They don’t fit neatly into a single month. So, be kind to yourself and others as you navigate through the ups and downs. And hey, if you ever need someone to talk to, our therapists are always here for you. Don’t hesitate to reach out to us.

As February unfolds, may you find love, acceptance, and joy in everything you do 💖
