Hi, I’m Hannah!

My Journey To Becoming A Therapist

My journey to therapy began as a 13 year old who was dealing with a major life transition and the mental health struggles that followed. I struggled with my own body image, and then developed an eating disorder by the time I was 15. My journey to recovery was a hard and long one, but also a beautiful and rewarding one. Growing up, I always loved helping people. I was the natural encourager and listener in my friend group. So going into college, I knew social work would be a good fit for me. I quickly learned that those hard experiences I had as a teen helped prepare me to support others, and provided me with the genuine empathy and care needed to be a therapist.

My clients teach me more every day, and I show up not just as a professional to guide you, but as a fellow human to learn alongside you. You are the expert in your life and you have the tools inside of you to move toward a life that you love - and I am just honored to get to support you in that!

I show up to my sessions with empathy, curiosity, warmth, and hope. I focus on the therapeutic relationship and believe healthy and safe attachment is a crucial part of healing.

The professional stuff

My Professional Background

I earned my Masters of Social Work degree from Union University. My internships in school provided me many opportunities to work with adolescents, teens and young adults; from working in foster care to working with freshmen students transitioning from high school to college life. After graduating from the Social Work program, I worked for a private counseling practice before moving to Texas, where I have worked at a Partial Hospitalization program (PHP) for eating disorder recovery, and then a private group practice. I have walked with clients struggling with anxiety, depression, trauma, grief, self esteem, body image, eating disorders, and relational concerns. I am so grateful to continue this work at Moon Child Counseling.

Here are some of my qualifications:

  • EMDR Trained
  • ERP Trained
  • DBT Trained

I utilize several different treatment modalities in my daily work, and I work with my clients to find what works best for them to address their unique needs.
